Elaine Alice (Dunn) Rud

Mrs. Elaine Alice (Dunn) Rud, age 87, of Holyoke passed away peacefully in her home on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Tuesday February 25, 2020. She was born on May 14, 1932 to the late Edwin and Cecile Dunn of Holyoke. Elaine was pre-deceased by her husband Jennings, her son Jennings and her two grandsons Christopher and Patrick Rud as well as her sister Mary (Dunn) MacIntosh and her husband Jerry. Elaine was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Holyoke. She retired on June 27, 1997 after 25 years of service with the Department of Social Services in Holyoke. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and she loved to spend time with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her children, son George Rud and his wife Penny of Holyoke, daughter Gayle Rud Smith and her husband Ray of Cape Coral, Florida, daughter Linda Rud of Holyoke and son Gary Rud of Holyoke. She leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren, grandson Jonathan Rud and his wife Jessica and great granddaughter Lilly of Gray Maine, grandson Nicholas Rud of Salem Oregon and three great grandsons Peyton, Jackson and Tucker Rud, granddaughter Jenna Rud Shoen and her husband Rob and great granddaughter Sayde of East Longmeadow, granddaughter Kristina Cook Doughty and her wife Brianna of Jamaica Plain and grandson Robert Cook of Melrose, MA. Elaine is survived by her two brothers Edwin Dunn and his wife Judy of Holyoke, William Dunn and his wife Donna of East Bridgewater, Ma. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Trinity Health Hospice of New England and Western Mass Healthcare for their help in keeping Elaine comfortable throughout her final days. The family is especially grateful to Marianne Santos a Home Healthcare provider who helped take care of Elaine for the last 3 years. Marianne was her angel throughout her illness. Funeral Services will be held Monday March 2 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am. Burial will take place in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday March 1^st from 2:00 to 5:00pm.
