Word has been received from the family of Eleanor Gerardo of her death on October 11 at NY Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. She was 86 years old. Eleanor was a resident of the Upper East Side of Manhattan for more than 60 years. Born in Holyoke, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Albino and Adelia Gerardo. She attended local schools and graduated from Holyoke High School. Upon graduation from Centenary College for Women, Eleanor began her business career in New York City with Bristol-Myers Co. In the late 1960’s, after a one-year sabbatical traveling Europe, Eleanor embarked on a new career in the financial services industry for over 35 years. Survivors include three generations of nieces and nephews as well as a sister-in-law. Her sister, Alice G. Meisel of Holyoke, and brothers Alexander Gerardo of AL and Henry Gerardo of CA preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home on December 21 at 11:00 with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
