Eleanor C. (Chivas) Maloney, age 78, of Westfield, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late Stephen J. and Imelda J. (Guerin) Chivas and was educated in the Holyoke schools. Eleanor worked for many years as a legal assistant at the law firm of Egan, Flanagan & Cohen in Springfield. She lived in Westfield for many years, and lovingly belonged to a neighborhood group of ladies called the B’s of Eastview. She was blessed with many caring friends and neighbors, and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Eleanor was an avid bowler, a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Chicopee, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion #420. She was the widow of Charles H. Maloney, who predeceased her on April 1, 2000. Eleanor is survived by a sister, Marlene Wresien of Chicopee; nephews: Rob, Bill and Matt Wresien, Jeffrey and Brian Meade, as well as a brother-in-law Larry Meade, a sister-in-law Mary Lou Chivas, and several cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was predeceased by a brother, John Chivas, two sisters: Lillian Meade and Kathleen Moylan, and a special friend, Lionel “Sharky” Charette. A service will be held Wednesday, May 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery.
