Elizabeth Delude Obituary
Elizabeth (Martin) Delude, age 71, of Ludlow, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was born in Fulham (London), England, a daughter of the late James and Johanna (Dowd) Martin, both of Co. Kerry, Ireland. Liz graduated from St. Edmonds R.C. in London, and emigrated to the United States at age 18 in the Summer of 1968 with her father and brother. She worked at Sears for 42 years as a furniture and appliance sales associate, retiring in 2008. Liz married the love of her life, Robert Delude, in November 1995; they just celebrated 25 years of marriage in November 2020. Together, Liz and Bob enjoyed dining out, ocean cruises, travelling abroad, and little weekend trips. She also enjoyed miniature golf, watching little league baseball and youth soccer, and weekly lunches with the girls. Liz was diagnosed with Erdheim Chester Disease in 2014 and Endometrial Cancer in 2016, and fought her battle gallantly. Liz will be incredibly missed by her beloved husband Robert Delude, and her three step-daughters: Christine Battistoni and her husband Tom of Elizabeth, CO, Shelley Carner and her husband Todd of Ludlow, MA, and Suzanne Baran of Westfield, MA. She was a loving grandmother to Tyler, Ashelyn, Alexa, Tyler, Trevor, Allison, and Dyson. Liz also leaves behind her brothers, James Martin and his wife Laura of West Springfield, MA, and William Martin of Springfield, MA, and will be dearly missed by her aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, John Martin and sister-in-law, Maureen Martin. Elizabeth’s family would like to give a special thanks to the Holyoke VNA & Hospice Life Care and to the Oncology Department at Holyoke Medical Center for giving her the best care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Liz on Thursday, February 11th at 11 am in Christ The King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave, Ludlow. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Please note that masks and social distancing are required for all services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s name to Holyoke VNA & Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
