Elizabeth Nadeau Obituary

Elizabeth (Moriarty) Nadeau, 57, of Holyoke, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at her home. She was born in Holyoke, the beloved oldest daughter of Ellen (Burns) Moriarty and the late Atty. Neil J. Moriarty Jr.  Liz graduated from Holyoke High School in 1980, and she received an Associates from Holyoke Community College. A lifelong Holyoke resident, Liz married James J. Nadeau in 1987, and they had two children, Margaret Catherine (deceased) and Manon Elizabeth, 20, currently an English and Secondary Education major at St. Anselm’s College. At the time of her death, Liz worked at Holyoke Gas & Electric, where she has been an employee for the past fifteen years. An avid traveler with Jim, Liz visited many European countries and attended the New Orleans Jazz Fest many times over the years. In addition to her mother, Ellen, her husband, Jim, and daughter, Manon, Liz is survived by her brothers: Michael Moriarty (Susan) of Holyoke; Neil Moriarty (Lauren) of Berwyn, PA; and George Moriarty (Regina) of Newtown, PA. She also leaves beloved in-laws Nancy Nadeau and Judy Geddis (Wally). An incredibly loving aunt, Liz leaves her nieces and nephews: Wendy (Rachael), Aiden, Josie, Dylan, Olivia, Hannah, Holland, Brendan, Megan and Cara. She also leaves two-grand nephews: Noah and Zachary. Liz was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret, her father, Neil, and her sister, Kate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Liz on Tuesday, November 26th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Saint Rose de Lima Cemetery, Aldenville. Calling hours will be held Monday, November 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Elizabeth Nadeau to the Saint Anselm College (SBA/WBA) Service and Solidarity Missions.
