Emily H. (Kwiatkowski) Douglas, age 94, of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Mission Care of Holyoke. Emily was born on March 5, 1928 to the late Helen and Stanley Kwiatkowski of Holyoke, Massachusetts. She was the oldest of four siblings, Alice Mamicki, Dorothy Seidel, Edward Kwiatkowski and Richard Kwiatkowski respectively. Emily was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She married James L. Douglas, Sr. of Chicopee, Massachusetts and was widowed in 1964. They had one son, James L. Douglas, Jr. Emily worked as a health care worker for many years at Chapel Hill Nursing Home in Holyoke. She was known as a kind and compassionate person. Her joy was always family, church and community. She resided in her family home at 197 Locust Street for over 50 years where she was active and friendly to all. She was a caregiver to her brother, Edward, who lived with cerebral palsy until his death in 2014. He was a well-known local Western Massachusetts artist. Emily is survived by her son, James, of Laguna Hills, California and nine grandchildren, as well as her sister Dorothy and her husband Henry, and her brother Richard and his wife Marianne, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She had a sweet and generous spirit and will be missed by all. Besides her parents, husband, and brother, Edward, Emily was also predeceased by her sister, Alice. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
