Eric H. Dugroo Obituary

Eric H. Dugroo, age 80, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.


Eric was born on August 27, 1945, in Holyoke, MA, the son of the late Edward and Genevieve (Adamiak) Dugroo. He was educated in the Holyoke Public School system and at Holyoke Community College, where he earned an associate’s degree in business. Eric proudly served his country in the Massachusetts and Connecticut National Guard. He was also a lifetime member of the Holyoke Elks and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Holyoke.


Eric enjoyed a long and successful career in data processing, sales, and computer systems. He held leadership positions throughout his professional life, including Director of Data Processing at The Hartford Insurance and Director of Government Systems with Grid Systems. He later worked as a Mortgage Specialist with Today Mortgage Services and concluded his career with Springfield Diocesan Cemeteries, Inc. In addition, Eric was the proud owner and partner of the Parting Glass Pub in Millbury, Massachusetts.


Eric is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, F. Rosemary Dugroo. He leaves behind three beloved daughters: Jennifer (Frank) DeStefano of Feeding Hills, MA; Laura (Robert) Raven of Suffield, CT; and Ericca (Andrew) Herbert of Holyoke, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah Herbert, Ryan (Monica) Herbert, Nicholas DeStefano, Michael (Lauren) DeStefano, Elizabeth Raven, and Catelin Raven, and a cherished great‑grandfather to Grace Lynn and Ryleigh Mae. He is also survived by his nephew, Mark (Jacqueline) Dugroo of Silver Springs, MD, and his cousin, John Pirog of Ballston Spa, NY.


Eric was predeceased by his parents; his brother and sister‑in‑law, Robert and Alice Dugroo; his niece, Cindy Dugroo; his sisters‑in‑law, LaVonne Dezialo and Patricia Sroka; and his brother‑in‑law, Michael O’Connor. He was also predeceased by his loyal and loving companion, Fenway.


In retirement, Eric enjoyed golfing, traveling, and trying his luck at the casino. He was a devoted sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He had a deep appreciation for Irish music, particularly the duo of Butch and Maeve Moore. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends.


Eric will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his larger‑than‑life presence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA  01040, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery.


The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the care and compassion shown by the staff of Holyoke Medical Center’s 4th Floor IMC Unit.
