CHICOPEE
Erik J. Kaplan, age 53, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022. Erik was born in Holyoke, son of Anne Marie (Guay) Kaplan and the late Andrew Kaplan, and was educated in Chicopee schools. He received a Certificate from Porter & Chester Institute and was a Correctional Officer in the Connecticut prison system. An avid fisherman, Erik was a Board of Directors member for The Bass Federation, and was an Eagle Scout. He was a passionate and accomplished photographer. Erik is survived by his loving family: his wife, Rachael (Bronner) Kaplan; two daughters: Rylee Kaplan, Crystol Pelletier of Chicopee; mother, Anne Marie (Guay) Kaplan of Chicopee; a granddaughter Ruby; brother, Joseph R. Leger and his wife Angela of VA; two sisters, Joanne Bligh of South Hadley and Susan Moriarty of Holyoke; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Erik was predeceased by his father, Andrew Kaplan, in 2017. A funeral Mass for Erik will take place on Saturday January 29 at 10:00am in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday January 28 from 4:00 to 7:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
