Erin T. Whalen Obituary

On August 30, 2025, our beloved Erin was called home to God. Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Erin’s life was not defined by her condition. Though her journey was filled with challenges, Erin met every day with grace, strength, and an unforgettable smile. She was a living testament to the words: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” Doctors once said Erin wouldn’t live past her third birthday—but she defied every odd with 46 vibrant, purpose-filled years. In that time, Erin not only survived—she thrived, living a life full of faith, laughter, love, and unwavering determination. Despite the physical limitations of her illness, Erin never let her wheelchair define her. She triumphed over every obstacle in her path, constantly leaving doctors, nurses, and all who met her inspired and in awe. Her spirit was indomitable—evidenced not only by her strength but by her many accomplishments, including winning a gold medal in the Special Olympics. Erin was a gifted artist whose passion and creativity flowed through every piece she created. Her sense of humor and playful spirit brought joy to everyone around her—whether it was through losing (or sneakily winning) card games with her beloved Grandma Whalen, singing with Grandma Conlin making recordings, and her painting sessions with Grandpa Conlin. or pulling off a perfectly timed prank on her siblings. Erin’s jokes and pranks on her siblings will never be forgotten! She had a special love for life’s simple pleasures: Monday night WWE wrestling marathons with a Coca-Cola in one hand and her treasured teddy bear “Cuddles” in the other were her happy place. She was the heart of her family—keeping them on their toes, lighting up every room, and reminding them daily of the power of joy and perseverance.

Erin was deeply proud of and grateful for her loving parents, Joe and Theresa. She often said, “If it weren’t for Mom and Dad and their incredible sacrifices, prayers, and faith in God, I wouldn’t have lived the amazing life I got to live.” Her love for her siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends was boundless. They were her world—and she was theirs. Erin’s life was a masterclass in courage, faith, and resilience. She may have lived with brittle bones, but her spirit was unbreakable. In her 46 years, she impacted more lives than many do in a lifetime. Her legacy of strength, love, and laughter will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Erin is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Louis & Shirley (Trudell) Conlin, paternal grandparents Joseph & Phyllis (Peters) Whalen, Uncles Roy O’Hare, Thomas Whalen & Michael Leach, and Aunt Joanne (Fallon) Whalen. Erin leaves behind her loving parents Joseph & Theresa (Conlin) Whalen; her beloved siblings Shannon & her husband Mark McGuill, Joe & his wife Courtney (Fraser) Whalen, Desmond & his wife Dani (Rodriguez), Mimi Whalen and Mary Whalen. Erin adored her nieces and nephews Sebastian, Valentin, Liam, Lauren, Lilah & Dante, & her furry best friend, Brady. Erin was also loved by all of her beloved aunts, uncles & cousins, along with numerous great friends, foster brothers & sisters.
