A resident of Holyoke for her first 56 years, "Evie" graduated from Holyoke High School in 1945. She also resided in Granby, MA and finished her life's journey in South Hadley, MA. Having held several employment positions, her most enjoyable was her co-ownership of the Lizak Insurance Agency which she and her sister, Josephine, founded. Evelyn was very active in the Mater Dolorosa Church where she served as a Lector. She was also active and dedicated to the Polish Woman's Alliance as well as the King of Glory Prayer Group. A firm believer in prayer, she often penned her own spiritual compositions. Evie loved the shore and spent many summers on the beach in Biddeford Pool, ME. Here she cherished time with family and friends while enjoying all the amenities the ocean had to offer.
Evelyn's family would like to thank her home aides Jackie and Sonia as well as the medical staff at Baystate Medical Center for the care and compassion given to her during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WestMass Eldercare, who were extremely helpful to our mother. There are no calling hours, however, relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn at Our Lady of the Cross Church on Monday, May 16th at 10:00 A.M. A private Committal Service will take place following the Mass.
Evelyn was a loving and generous person. She was graced with beauty, kindness and artistry. A poem written to Evelyn by an unknown relative or friend many years ago serves as a perfect tribute.
Wide-spread her arms in loving embrace
Wide-ranged her heart in kindness and grace
Joy and contentment were hers every day
Pure were the gifts she bequeathed on her way
Bright was her spirit with beauty to spare
There was warmth at her hearth and friendship to share
Perfect her roles: friend, mother and wife
Grateful are we who were touched by her life
