Francis G. LaFreniere

CHICOPEE:  Francis G. ”Fran” LaFreniere, age 76, of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Jewish Nursing Home of Western MA in Longmeadow, MA.  Fran was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Ernest LaFreniere and Grace (Hupfer) Wolfindale.  He was a graduate of the former Holyoke Trade High School and a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1968 to 1970 in Germany.  Fran was a retired 36-year employee of Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal where he worked as an Administrator traveling throughout the United States to teach employees at their numerous locations.  Besides his parents, Fran was predeceased by his wife, Joanne Petit; two brothers, Gerald LaFreniere and Richard LaFreniere and his wife Joan. He is survived by a brother, Dennis (Jan) LaFreniere of Virginia Beach and three sisters; Donna (Leslie) Fountain of South Hadley, Elizabeth (Donald) Willard of Florence, MA, and Janice Nethercutt of Columbus, IN.  He also leaves two aunts, Lucille Whitehurst of Chesapeake, VA, and Diane Hupfer of Chicopee as well as a sister-in-law, Linda LaFreniere of TN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  The family would like to thank the staff at the Jewish Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided Fran. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be private.  Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Fran to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, NE 68010 or the charity of one’s choice.
