Francis J. “Jeffery” Quinlan, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, in the warm and comforting presence of his devoted wife and family after a brief and sudden illness.
Jeff was born in Springfield, MA, on May 20, 1945, and was the son of John (Herb) and Kathleen (Gavin) Quinlan. He graduated from Holyoke High School, and served in the United States Navy, stationed as a medic in Vietnam. Upon return he graduated from UMASS and Western New England College, and worked for Aetna Insurance (29 years) until retirement.
He was married to Constance Conroy for 60 years, raising their family together in Granby, MA. Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Jay (Lori), and Matthew (Angela); his beautiful granddaughters, Shannon (Brad), and Casey (Gae); his siblings, Leslie McDonald, Michael Quinlan, Kate Quinlan, and Jayne Quinlan; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Quinlan (preceded in death by his brother Jack in 2022) and Carol Baron; his cousins, Marvin Spence (Donna), George Spence (Lisa), and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke for the wonderful and compassionate care they extended to Jeff and his family during his period of rehab there.
A Funeral Service will be held for Jeff on Tuesday, Feb. 11th at 10:00 am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Committal with U.S. Navy honors will follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
The family strongly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dakin Humane Society or The American Heart Association.
