Our beloved mother and grandmother Fryderyka Kujtkowski passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She was born in Jodlowa Poland, the daughter of Zofia and Stanislaw Lesiak. After surviving the horrors of the second World War, she attended the University of Gdansk, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She worked in the port of Gdynia, where she met her husband Waclaw. In 1964 they emigrated to the United States and settled in Holyoke. She had a great love of reading and knowledge that she instilled in her children, Beata, Anna, and Jerzy, and grandson Aleksander.
Fryderyka had a great sense of humor and was always ready to laugh. She loved to quote poetry, especially in Latin. She also loved to sing loudly off-key, much to her children’s exasperation. She was loved dearly by all and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at 10 am in Our Lady of The Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. There are no calling hours and the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
