Gail M. (Rienke) Steiger, 75, of South Hadley, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Holyoke Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Gustave and Beatrice Rienke, and attended local schools. Gail worked as a Shift Supervisor at several paper companies over the years, ultimately retiring from Hazen Paper Co. She was an avid sewer and loved her dogs.
Gail is predeceased by her former husband, Martin J. Steiger, in 2024. She is survived by three sons: William Charron of South Hadley, and Martin J. Steiger, Jr. and Marc Charron, both of Chicopee; five grandchildren: Justin, Joselyn, Allison, Nathan,and Brian; four great-grandchildren; her longtime partner, Joseph Keenan, and four brothers: Gus Rienke of South Hadley, Douglas Rienke of Texas, and Gary McClure and Todd Trimble, both of Iowa. Besides her parents and former husband, Gail was predeceased by a daughter, Candace Charron; granddaughter, Ashlee Marie Brunelle; brother, Steven Rienke, and a sister, Debra Lorraine.
