Gary F. Stortz Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Stortz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away on December 3, 2024 at the age of 78. Born on October 17, 1946 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Fred and Pauline Stortz, Gary grew up as one of four brothers in a family filled with love, laughter, and strong bonds. He shared an enduring connection with his brothers, who were his lifelong companions. Gary is survived by his three brothers, Ronald, Dennis, and Jeff, who will forever treasure the memories of their times together and his unwavering love and support as a sibling. Proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, Gary demonstrated and enduring commitment to honor, duty, and service. Following his military career, he transitioned into the textile industry, where he worked as a warehouse manager at Mastech. Known for his integrity, work ethic, and leadership, he left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. Family was the cornerstone of Gary’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; his two loving sons, Brian and Christopher; and his four cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Samantha, Brennan, and Emma, who brought immense joy to his life. He was a devoted family man who found greatest happiness in the moments spent with his loved ones. Gary will be remembered for his kind heart, bright smile, and the joy he brought to others. Whether smoking a good cigar or watching his Patriots play football, he lived life with enthusiasm, generosity, and purpose. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday December 18 at 3:00pm in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, with Air Force honors. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor his remarkable life and legacy. If you would like to join the family in procession to the cemetery, you are welcome to gather in the parking lot of the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke between 1:30 and 2:15pm that day. Though he is no longer with us Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
