George T. Gammons, age 78, of South Hadley, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was born in Springfield, son of the late Lewis and Mildred (Bissell) Gammons, and was a graduate of Holyoke Trade High School Class of 1966. He was a United States Navy veteran who had served in the Seabees Unit during the Vietnam War. He was employed at South Hadley Electric and then worked as a retired, self-employed electrical contractor. George was a life member of Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902, and a member of the American Legion Post #325. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn H. (Brunell) Gammons; his children, Kelli Houlihan and Kimberly Houlihan of West Springfield; his grandchildren: Summer Carlisle and John Carlisle of North Carolina, Kasey Pitoniak, and Natalie Munteanu of West Springfield and her husband Gheorghe Munteanu; and his sister, Ruth Reilly and her husband Thomas of Chatham. A Prayer Service will be held for George on Monday, September 11th at 9:45 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by Committal and Military Honors at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 10th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902, 250 Whitney Ave., Holyoke, MA 01040, or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, P.O.
