George A. Roberts Obituary

George A. Roberts, 90, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Renaissance Manor in Holyoke. He was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Frank J. and Leona (Senecal) Roberts. George was a 1952 graduate of Holyoke High School and he also attended the former Holyoke Business School. George was a veteran of the United States Army and Army Reserve. He spent six years in military service and was discharges as a Sergeant. He worked as a computer programmer and previously had worked through a progression of several banks in Hartford, CT. Over the years he was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish where he had served as a member and chairman of the school board for several years. He had also volunteered there as an usher and collector for over 20 years, and also worked on the monthly Kate’s Kitchen food drive. George loved gardening, the beach, and his many visits to Ogunquit, Maine.

He is survived by goddaughter and niece, Linda Neveu; godson and nephew, Philp Roberts; nephews, David Roberts and Thomas Roberts; nieces, Lori Fontenot and Julie Ogg; and a cousin, MaryAnn Pollini. George also leaves several neighbors and friends who helped him during his final years. His family would like to express their gratitude to each for helping George to remain in his home as long as possible and making his final days comfortable. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by two brothers, Francis W. Roberts and Thomas R. Roberts.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 26 at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, both in Holyoke. Burial will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
