HOLYOKE: Geraldine (Dennehy) Donah, 93, of Holyoke, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 due to complications from the Corona virus. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Cornelius and Caroline (Poli) Dennehy and was educated in the Holyoke schools. Gerry had worked as a secretary at National Blank Book Company. While working there she met her husband Arthur E. Donah who died on January 6, 1993. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Lafrennie and her husband Ken of West Yarmouth, four sons: Peter and his wife Diane of Agawam, Paul and his wife Joan of West Yarmouth, John and his wife Mary of Holyoke, James and his wife Ann of Easthampton, along with several nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by a brother, Neil Dennehy, and two sisters Eileen Curry and June Sabourin . Gerry’s family would like to extend special thanks to her niece Joan Lamirande, who was her loving caregiver for many years. Gerry was proud to become Nana to her 16 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers like the Donah Holiday Merry Go Round, and The St. Patrick’s Day Parade where she celebrated her Irish heritage. Any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She enjoyed the years of camping on Cape Cod, watching the kids sporting and school events, reading, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. She had a love for animals and always made sure that any family dog always had a treat slipped to them under the table at dinner time. She will be dearly missed by all but the memories that were created will live on within all of us forever. Funeral services are private at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to: St Jude at www.Stjude.org or PetSmart Charities at www.Petsmart.com.
