HOLYOKE: Gerhard Schloesser, age 93, entered into eternal sleep on January 25, 2020 at the Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Berlin, Germany on February 12, 1926. He was educated in Germany as a tool maker retiring once in 1991 from Berkshire Industries and again in 2010 from Ruwac, Inc. Gerhard was a great help to his son Wolfgang as he started his business manufacturing industrial vacuum systems. He was well respected and loved by all people that he worked with throughout his career. Gerhard enjoyed his hobby collecting clocks, and became very proficient in their repair and restoration. He could fix any clock that wasn’t run over by a truck. One of his predominate traits was to repair rather than throw out, he actually could fix about anything mechanical, even if he had to make the part by hand. He truly loved to work. Gerhard leaves his wife of 70 years Marianne Schloesser, his two sons, Wolfgang Schloesser and his wife Marita and Norbert Schloesser and his wife Natalie, a daughter, Gloria McKenna and her husband John. He also leaves three granddaughters, Simone Prystowski, Kristen Mone and her husband Anthony, Mary Kate Parody and her husband Matt, and three grandsons, Nikolaus Schloesser, John James McKenna and Timothy McKenna. He also leaves five great grandsons, Joshua Prystowski, Jacob Prystowski, Anthony Mone, Alexander Mone, Brayden Parody and Jacob Parody. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Holyoke Medical Center who provided Gerhard outstanding care and support. They truly exemplify professionalism with genuine compassion. There are no calling hours. There will be a private funeral held at the family’s convenience. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
