CHICOPEE
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Greg Granger announces his peaceful passing on February 14, 2021. Born and raised in Chicopee, Greg was the son of Albert and Clarice (Theroux) Granger. He was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and Quincy College. Greg brought to his life a great love for his family and friends, a strong work ethic, a deep sense of honor and responsibility, and a spirited and quick sense of humor. He proudly served our country in the Army National Guard on active duty and then as a reservist for 22 years. A jack of many talents, he could assemble almost anything (especially LEGOS) and fix many things. Possessing a creative flair, he redesigned his beloved home on Cape Cod. For the last 10 years, his and Joan’s lives have been blessed by their beautiful grandsons, Jack and Griffin, who loved their “Pa” dearly. To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife Joan (Haller) Granger, his daughters Katie Gelonese (Chris), Amy and her partner Gerry Ruel; his grandsons; and his sister Denise, a Sister of Saint Joseph, Helen Perry, SSJ; a large extended family, and his wonderful friends. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Greg on Saturday, February 20th at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow in Saint Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen Street, Chicopee. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 19th from 3 to 6 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greg’s memory to St. Thomas the Apostle School, 75 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089 or to Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
