Gregory C. Pratt Obituary

Gregory Pratt, born in Fort Meade, Maryland, unexpectedly passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on August 21, 1952, to Wesley Pratt and Hattie Jean Dukette. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Gregory is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Pratt; his son, Jeffrey Pratt; his daughter, Monique (Pratt) Stasinos ; and his cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, and James. Gregory was the eldest of three siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Pratt, and is survived by his brother, Louis H. Dukette Jr. Gregory proudly served in the United States Air Force and Army Reserves for 11 years, a period of his life that reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to service. Following his military career, he continued a life of steady and dedicated work. He was employed as a Special State Police Officer at Hampshire College, where he was known for his reliability, professionalism, and fun, engaging personality that brought warmth to those around him on campus. Beyond his professional life, Gregory had a deep and enduring love for the arts. He was especially passionate about painting, working primarily with oils and acrylics. Through his artwork, he expressed emotion, imagination, and a keen eye for detail, often immersing himself for hours in the creative process. Painting was not just a hobby for Gregory—it was a vital form of self-expression and a source of peace and fulfillment throughout his life. He also had a profound love for music and creativity in all its forms. His musical tastes spanned generations, with favorites including Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, and The Doors, whose music often filled his home and accompanied his creative moments. Gregory had a distinctive sense of style and took great pride in how he dressed. Whether putting together an outfit for an evening out or simply expressing himself through fashion, his love for dressing well was another extension of his creativity and confidence. He greatly valued time spent with those he loved and especially cherished going out to dinner and dancing each week with his wife, Linda, and close friends - a tradition that brought him joy, laughter, and connection. These evenings reflected his appreciation for good company, shared experiences, and living life with rhythm and heart. Gregory will be remembered for his artistic spirit, his devotion to his family, and the lasting, joyful impact he made through his warmth, conversation, and genuine love for people. He will be deeply missed. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 10:30am to 12:30pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30pm in the Barry J.
