Gwendoline "Gwen" (Dix) Nichols Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother  Gwendoline Muriel Nichols.  She passed away peacefully at home on July 16th, 2025.  Gwen was born and raised in England,  coming to the United States after marrying Rodger E. Nichols,  where they built a life together spanning 68 years. 

Gwen is predeceased by her parents : Ernest George Dix (Jock) and Florence Muriel Dix.  Her grandsons Patrick Alan Rud and Johnnie Nichols.  Her great granddaughter Faith Abigail Roux.

Gwen is survived by her husband Rodger and her children : Beverley Kopec, Gary and Francine Nichols,  Susan and Michael Redfern,  Steven and Eva Nichols, Joseph and Melanie Nichols. Her many grandchildren: Kevin and Jen Nichols,  Katie and Luc Roux, Sr. Christopher and Trisha Nichols, Nicholas Rud, Alex Nichols, Bryan Nichols,  Matthew and Jill Nichols, and Sarah Nichols. Gwen was also blessed with great grandchildren: Benjamin,  Brent, Adam,  Audrina,  Luc jr., Zachary,  Grace,  Abel, Christopher and Valerie, Shannon, Colin,  Peyton, Jaxson,  Ryan, Charlotte and Tucker. 

Gwen is also survived by family in England,  her sisters Jean Judge and Terry, Eileen and Colin Venemore.  Her nieces Melissa Judge, Louisa and Brian Mann. 

Gwen was also predeceased by her loving furry companions: Puffer, Molly and Princess. 

Gwen was employed many years as a loss prevention supervisor with Ames and Zayre corporations.

She was an avid knitter and enjoyed her collections of carousel horses, tea pots and bells from around the world.

The family would like to thank the caregivers over the years especially Holyoke VNA-Hospice Life Care.  Anne the spiritual counselor.  Her nurses Kalesha and Heather.  CNA's Danielle and Maricruz. Her other caregivers Cheryl, Kathleen and her devoted family members. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 23 at 8:45 am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, at 10:00am. Visitation will take place on Tuesday July 22 from 4:00 to 6:00pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holyoke VNA Hospice Life Care.
