Helen (Toth) Soltys

Helen T. (Toth) Soltys, age 93, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at RegalCare at Holyoke. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved winning at bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was born in South Hadley, daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Gulash) Toth and was educated in the South Hadley Schools. Helen was employed many years ago at National Blank Book Company and lived most of her life in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church. She was the widow of Paul A. Soltys who predeceased her on July 7, 2019. Helen is survived by five sons: Mark and wife Jean of Hampstead, NH, Paul A. Jr of Enfield CT, Alan and wife Laurie of Brewer ME, Adam of East Hartford CT, and John Soltys of Dudley MA; her grandchildren: Steven (Claudia) of Manchester NH, Michael (Kaelyn) of Nashua NH, Dean (Kayla) of Veazie ME, Amanda of Biddeford ME, Jarred (Rachel) of Dudley MA, and Lindsay of Dayville CT; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son John’s wife, Lise, and Paul’s fiancée, Cindy Lynch, and her siblings, three brothers: Michael Toth of Agawam, John Toth of Granby and Paul Toth of South Hadley, four sisters: Ann Bowling of AR, Julia Labate of PA, Irene Bartnik of Holyoke, and Mary Toth of South Hadley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 15th at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam at 1:00 p.m. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning only from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Cross Parish Renovation Fund, 25 Maple Street, Holyoke MA 01040.
