Henry “Evans” Gamble, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 surrounded by family. Born in Mobile, Alabama on December 1, 1940, he was the son of the late Henry Gamble, Sr. and Aida Fisher. Henry is pre-deceased by three sons, Keith Gamble, Ryan Gamble and Adam Gamble; a son-in-law, Carl Lavalle; and a sister, Dorothy Wardell. Henry leaves behind 10 children: Sherry O’Connor & her husband Rasheen, Kim Burrell, Shelda Lavalle, Kim, Daryl, Brandi, Brandon, Kevin and Val Gamble, Eva Ward, and step-son Quentin Smith; a brother, Alonzo Gamble; and a sister, Rosemary Gamble. He also leaves behind over two dozen grandchildren, including Roberto Molina, Andre, Sierra, Tawreak, Madison and Ryana Gamble, and others. Henry was an amazing singer. He started out performing in “The Flicks” in Uniontown, PA, and then he moved to Holyoke, MA where he was part of “The Velvets.” Henry worked as a Machine Operator for many years in Holyoke, as well as an Auxiliary Special Police Officer in Amherst. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 26th from 10 to 11:30 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery West, Rock Valley Road, Holyoke. Please note that masks and social distancing are required for all services.
