Herman A. Sutter, Jr. age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2026. Born in Holyoke, Herm was the son of the late Herman A. and Yvonne (Faille) Sutter of Holyoke.
Herm lived his life to the fullest with his devoted wife Helene by his side. Together, they enjoyed boating on the Connecticut river, travelling extensively, and visiting casinos with friends. With a love for life and fun, they enjoyed entertaining their many friends and family members always with a smile. He was beloved by so many and will be truly missed.
Herm was a highly respected engine test technician at Pratt and Whitney, where he retired from after 35 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1959 to 1963 after which he returned home and married Helene.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helene E. (Naudus) Sutter, 2 brothers William Sutter of Holyoke and John Sutter of California, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Neil Sutter of Holyoke.
A military service with United States Navy honors will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at 3:00pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, followed by a reception at the Delaney House at 4:00.
There will be no calling hours. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Veteran supporting charities.
