SOUTH HADLEY

Hugh Gamache, 82, of South Hadley, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 13, 2020 at Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke after a short battle with cancer. Born December 31, 1937 to the late Armand and Mary (Counter) Gamache and graduated from Holyoke High School. Hugh worked as a Machinist and eventually Supervisor and Union President at Worthington Pumps/Atlas Copco. Hugh’s greatest pleasures in life were his family, collecting trains, tag sales with his wife and his love of food! He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Gail R. (Miles) Gamache in 2017. Hugh is survived by his children: Gail Fisher-Pepin of CA, Tim Gamache of Ludlow, Cathy Regish of South Hadley, and Missy Gamache of Holyoke; 8 adored grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Gamache of Chicopee. Hugh was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Gamache-Taylor, and a son Hugh Gamache Jr. A private service will be held for Hugh followed by burial in St. Jerome Cemetery next to his wife. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
