Ida M. (Fernandes) Sudsbury, age 93, of Holyoke, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in the presence of her family and dedicated caregivers. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late Antonio and Victoria (Duarte) Fernandes and was a 1946 graduate of the former Holy Rosary High School. Ida was employed by the City of Holyoke for many years, working as a senior clerk at the Department of Public Works office, and later as a secretary for the License Commission, retiring in 1989. A lifelong Holyoke resident, she was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish, and a member of the Holyoke Senior Center. Ida was predeceased by her beloved husband, William B. Sudsbury, on November 23, 2003. She is survived by two sons: William J. Sudsbury of Walpole NH and Michael A. Sudsbury and his wife Barbara of Chicopee; three grandchildren: Jessica, Jennifer and Jeremy; three great grandchildren: Nathan, Ava and Maya; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ida was predeceased by a grandson Jared Sudsbury, two brothers: John and Tony Fernandes, and four sisters: Gloria Hebert, Janita, Mary and Lourdes Fernandes. The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 31st at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
