Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Fitzgerald, formerly of Holyoke, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday December 22, 2025. Born January 7, 1939 in Holyoke and raised in South Hadley, daughter of the late Leo and Helen (Fournier) Berard, Jackie was well recognized throughout the community having worked as a waitress at Friendly's Restaurants in Holyoke for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her sons and their families, particularly the time spent in the sun at the beach, and in recent years camping, where she enjoyed many social events. Jackie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John J. Fitzgerald, in 2018. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Kevin and Paula of Holyoke, Brian and Debra “Debbie” of Easthampton, and Shawn and Sally of Granby; her grandchildren Nicholas and his fiance Colleen Wolfe of Chicopee, Kathleen “Katie” and her fiancee David Thayer of South Hadley, Brendan Fitzgerald and Emily Fitzgerald of Granby; her brother Richard Berard of Worcester, her sister Geogine “Jeannie” Weber of Colorado, her brother in law, Eugene Frey of Holyoke, her cousin Joan Rigali of Holyoke and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ronald Berard and sisters-in-law Doris Berard, Mary Laroque, Ann Bryant and Kathleen Frey.

The funeral will be held Monday January 5 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am. Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 4th from 1:00-4:00pm.
