James Frances Kennedy, 91 of Holyoke, son of the late Edward F. Kennedy and Elizabeth McGuire, passed away peacefully with his sons by his side on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Linda Manor in Leeds, MA where he was well cared for by all of the staff. James, an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, was born on July 26, 1929 in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. He also owned and operated several businesses, The Sundown Drive-In and Leo Auto Sales among them. James leaves his three children, James J. and partner Jessica Peltier of Westfield, Gary J. of South Hadley, and Maureen Jagodowski and husband Tom of South Hadley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, T.J. and wife Beth Jagodowski, Troy Jagodowski, Lauren and James Kennedy, Gary and Sean Kennedy and Kaitlin Garvey, and also two great-grandchildren, Grace and Conor. He was predeceased by his grandson Todd Jagodowski in 1993, his daughter-in-law Diane Kennedy in 2017, and also in 2017 by his loving wife of 68 years, Kathleen. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements which will be private with burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
