James Robert Cassidy, born December 24, 1941, passed away suddenly on May 28, 2025 at the age of 83. Jim grew up in Springfield, MA and attended Springfield Public Schools. He was employed by the State of Massachusetts starting as a mechanic then moving into the Bridge Inspection Division. Jim retired in 2011 after 32 years of service. Jim enjoyed trips to Cape Cod with his wife by his side. They both shared the love for tug boats and enjoyed watching ships passing through the canal. They often could be found sitting and enjoying a picnic while watching them go by. Jim was preceded in death by his son James S. Cassidy in 2023. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years Marjorie (Bell) Cassidy, and his daughter Roberta Corbeil of Easthampton. Jim will be missed by his grandchildren Joshua Rioux of South Hadley, Joseph Corbeil of Florence, and Samantha Corbeil of Easthampton. Jim also leaves behind great-grandchildren Addison, Grant, Jackson, Owen and Griffin. Calling hours will be held for Jim on Tuesday, June 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. All other services will be held privately. Jim and Midge were passionate about rescuing animals from local animal shelters and did so for many years.
