Jan Kucinski

Jan Kucinski, 79, of Holyoke, MA, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on February 12, 2021, after a short illness. Jan was born in Olszewka, Poland on May 15, 1941. He was the son of the late Wladyslaw and Marianna Kucinski, also from Olszewka.

Educated in Poland, Jan attended technical school and trained as a machinist.  He also served in the Polish Armed Forces.  Jan immigrated to the United States in 1967, where he worked as a machinist for many years. He began his career at Riverview Machine Company and later at Westfield Gauge until he retired in 2000.

He is survived by his wife Stanislawa (Stella) Kucinski, who he married on September 11, 1966; his daughter Danuta (Donna) Kucinski; his son Mariusz (Mark) Kucinski and his wife Colleen (O’Brien), and his two grandsons, whom he adored, Aleksander Kucinski and Gregory Kucinski.  He also leaves his brother Eugeniusz Kucinski and his wife Halina, his sister Maria Wiktorski and her husband Wlodzimierz, and his sister Irena Gajewski and her husband Andrzej, all who reside in Poland. He is predeceased by his brothers Stanislaw Kucinski and Jerzy Kucinski of Poland.  He also leaves his sister-in-law Genevieve Niziol and brother-in-law Walter Orzol, both of Chicopee.  Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, from the United States and Poland, as well as his godchildren are left to remember him as well.

Jan will be forever remembered for his deep love for his family, generous heart, and the very special bond he shared with his grandsons.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jan Kucinski will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Cross Church in Holyoke, MA. There will be a private calling hour at 9 AM at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in South Hadley, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baystate Health Fund.
