Jeannine Gagnon Obituary

WESTFIELD

Jeannine Marie (Laliberte) Gagnon, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Westfield with her loving family by her side on May 9, 2021. Jeannine was born in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada daughter of the late Elphege J. and Marie-Jean (St. Louis) Laliberte and was educated in Canada. From her teenage years until she married, Jeannine was a Commercial Artist for Studio Laliberte, a family run business in Drummondville. She held a Certificate in Interior Design and was the original President of the Apostolate of the Suffering at the National Coordination Center for the United States based at Mary Farm in Palmer, MA. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Westfield. Her faith commitment and religious devotion involved decades of work helping others. A devout Catholic, she was an active member, volunteer, lector, and Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Thomas Aquinas and Our Lady of Hope Parishes in Springfield. Throughout her life, she was commissioned to produce art. In this work, Jeannine united her love of art with her love of faith and service by also creating banners for parishes and for Rivier University. Jeannine was called upon to do translations between the french and english languages for periodicals, books, as well as for public events in her travels, including at the Vatican and Fatima in Portugal. She will be remembered by friends and family as a devoted, caring, creative, strong, and gentle woman, generous to a fault, always putting others before herself. Her home was always open and filled with family, art, music, and great food. She loved to travel and was grateful to follow her husband's lead to adventures in many places around the world. Jeannine was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Raymond L. Gagnon, M.D. in 2019. She is survived by her children: Marie Gagnon of Brooklyn, NY, Lucie Charles and her husband Henry of Westfield, MA, Louise Bouffard FiliAstolfone and her husband Victor of Springfield, MA, John Gagnon and his wife Lynn of West Springfield, MA and Dominic Gagnon and his wife Louise of Scarborough, Maine; 7 grandchildren: Jonathan Bouffard, Benjamin Bouffard and Lauren Heaton, Sarah Charles-Cherner and her husband Jarrett Cherner, Eric Charles, Gregory Gagnon, Geoffrey Gagnon, and James Gagnon; a great-grandchild Matthew (and 2 more on the way in 2021); and her brother Robert Laliberte and his wife Jacqueline. She will be greatly missed by many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends she counted as family. Sadly, she was predeceased by a grandson, Luke Charles, a son-in-law Mark Bouffard, her brothers Paul Emile Laliberte and Richard Laliberte, and several brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff of Beacon Hospice and Armbrook Village for their care and devotion to her journey. Due to the COVID pandemic, in person funeral services will be private.  A zoom link can be found at https://www.barryjfarrellfuneralhome.com/obituary/Jeannine-Gagnon or https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85903544763 for Jeannine’s services which will begin remotely at 12:45pm on Wednesday May 12th. Public services to be held at a later date.
