Jeannine R. (Godin) Hunter, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2021. She was born in Chicopee on June 29,1929 to the late Maxime and Clementine (Leger) Godin. Jeannine “Jan” was raised in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1947. After graduating she was employed at Fisk Rubber Company until marrying Alan Hunter on April 24,1954 and starting a family in Holyoke. She was a full-time homemaker while her children were growing up and then went on to work in the Holyoke public school system and later G.Fox/Filene’s. She was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church. Jeannine enjoyed dancing, baking, going to the beach, bingo and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a talented seamstress and made many beautiful Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife, warm and supportive mother, and a happy and fun-loving grandmother. Jeannine is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Alan, and her 3 children; Marilyn (Robert) Elliott and Cathy Wolohan of Holyoke, and Alan (Lisa) Hunter of West Springfield. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren; Shawn Elliott, Kim (Adam) Sullivan, Allison (Pat) Walsh, Kelly Wolohan (fiancé, Pat Cronin), Rachel and Ryan Hunter, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by an infant son, her sister, Jacqueline Hamel, and her brother, Marcel Godin.
