Jeffrey Leader Obituary

Jeffrey “Jeff” S. Leader, 78, of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. Born in New London, CT, he was the youngest child of Arthur M. Leader and Margaret M. Leader (née Gaylord). He is predeceased by his siblings, sisters Dorothy Carlson and Norma Palm and brothers Edwin Leader and Sherrill Leader. Jeff was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Patricia Leader (née Flanagan). He was a loving and devoted father, father-in-law, and grandfather, cherishing every moment with his daughter Denette Shea, son-in-law James, and granddaughter Ciara, his son Lance and grandson Kurtis. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, along with his two treasured dogs, Chewy and Woowoo, and his “grand-puppies” Daisy and Bunny, who he lovingly called “George.” A visionary entrepreneur and a gifted coppersmith, Jeff owned and operated an architectural sheet metal roofing manufacturing business. His craftsmanship and expertise were widely respected. When he wasn’t working, he could be found tinkering in his home shop, always ready to lend his technical skills and problem-solving abilities to friends and family. Affectionately called “a MacGyver,” Jeff had a knack for fixing just about anything. He was also an avid traveler with a passion for exploring the world, particularly tropical destinations. Jeff loved meeting new people and adding another pin to his world map of travels. He was also an avid traveler with a passion for exploring the world, especially tropical destinations. His most recent and deeply cherished adventure was in December when he visited Ireland to see his granddaughter, a University College Dublin student of whom he was immensely proud. Music was another passion of Jeff’s. A devoted fan of classic rock, he attended as many concerts as possible, always enjoying the sounds of his favorite bands, including The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and Chicago. Jeff will be remembered for his quick wit, charm, and generous spirit. His warmth and humor left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St, Holyoke, MA. a calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30. Jeff’s legacy of love, laughter, and ingenuity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
