Jeffrey Phaneuf passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, entering into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in Holyoke on March 8, 1947, to William and Lucille (Ducharme) Phaneuf.

He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Prince. He is survived by his two brothers, William Phaneuf and George Phaneuf.

Jeffrey was a devoted husband to Gretchen (Schmidt) Phaneuf for 57 years, and a loving father to his daughter, Michelle Longey (husband, Andrew), and his son, Jeffrey Phaneuf. He was blessed with five grandchildren—Emilia, Kalin, Evan, Seth, and Christine—and one great-grandson, Kavien.

He attended Holyoke High School, became a licensed steamfitter/pipefitter, and was a proud member of Local 104.

Jeffrey’s greatest pastimes were reading the Bible, talking about Jesus, spending time with his family, playing cribbage with his friends, and, in earlier years, enjoying golf and fishing.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A prayer service will be held on Thursday April 16 at 4:30pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:30pm. Burial will be private.
