Jeremiah Philip Scannell, age 76, a lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke on August 22, 1948 son of the late John J. and Mary Monahan Scannell. He was a 1966 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from John Carroll University in 1970 and a Masters Degree in History from Westfield State College in 2001. Jeremiah worked as a Mental Health Counselor for many years. In retirement he was an artist. He is survived by a sister, Kathleen Masi and her husband William of West Suffield, CT; two nephews; William Masi and his wife Kimberly and their children: Rebecca King and her husband Spencer and Emily Masi; Christopher Masi and his wife Shannon and their children: John Masi, Alexander Masi and Alison Masi; four nieces; Paula Fitzgerald and her husband Kevin and their children Nicholas Fitzgerald and Kathleen Fitzgerald; Pamela Harnois and her husband Robert and their daughter Mary Ellen; Patricia Signet and her husband Philip Berry and their children: Maureen Berry and Madison Berry and Jennifer Cashion and her husband John and their children Naomi Cashion and Cole Cashion. Besides his parents, Jeremiah was predeceased by a brother, John J. Scannell and a sister, Mary Signet and her husband Carl. Memorial donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA, or to a charity of your choice. Inurnment was at St. Jerome Cemetery Holyoke, MA.
