Jerome P. Shea

HOLYOKE:  Jerome P. Shea, age 88, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 7, 2020.  He was born in Holyoke, son of the late John and Catherine (Martyn) Shea, and was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and St. Anselm College.  Jerome held a Masters Degree and taught for many years in Springfield at Classical High School and Central High School.  He was a life member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks, #902 in Holyoke and enjoyed gardening and lawncare.  Jerome was a passionate Red Sox and Patriots fan.  He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara A. (McLean) Shea; his children, Jerome P. Shea, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Webster, Cynthia A. Valent and her husband Richard of PA, Timothy J. Shea of Chicopee, Christopher Shea his wife Meghan of Holyoke and William Shea and his wife Sarah of Belchertown; his 9 beloved grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Valent, Jack, Riley, Rory, Ryan and Camden Shea, and Krystal (Workman) Beaudry and Ryan MacDonald as well as several nieces and a nephew. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Father Jack Shea, Edward Shea, Joseph Shea and James Shea.  The family would like to thank the Holyoke VNA, especially Steven, for the excellent care that they provided to Jerome. A private burial will be held in Forestdale Cemetery. There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Jerome to Holyoke VNA & Hospice, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.  The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street in Holyoke is handling the arrangements.
