Joan M. (Harris) Reardon, R.N., age 84, of South Deerfield, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late James L. and Helen A. (Mitera) Harris, was educated in the Holyoke schools, and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1958 and the former Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. Joan has been a Registered Nurse since 1962, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Springfield College in 1977. She was employed at several hospitals in Western Mass, as well as working in Maine and Hawaii during her long career. Joan was the widow of Francis Reardon, who died on April 28, 2016.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Reardon of south Deerfield; two grandchildren: Daniel Bennett (Kelly), and Christopher Bennett (Lindsey); six great grandchildren: Jack, Olivia, Walker, Brady, Eli, and Kyra; a brother Lawrence Harris, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by a sister, Louise Whitelock, sister in law Jacqueline Harris, and brother-in-law Ralph Whitelock, in January of this year.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 11:15 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Joan's family would like to publicly thank Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Greenfield, especially Karri, Kelly and Ann, for the compassionate care they provided to Joan.
