John F. "Jack" Craven Obituary

John “Jack” Craven, 75, of Easthampton, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2024. Jack was born in Holyoke and was the son of the late James P. Craven and Mary A. Moynihan. He was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western New England University. He was a proud member of the Holyoke Police Department, working as patrolman and later the communications dispatch supervisor, retiring with Badge 1 in 2006 after 35 years of dedicated service. Jack’s journey through life was joyful, and the sound of his deep, signature voice and quick wit will be missed by many. He filled his days with family, rooting for the Boston Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots, and staying up to date on current events as he was an avid newspaper reader. He leaves the love of his life, wife Diane (Coppez) Craven, after 50 years of marriage. They were the perfect pair, enjoying each other’s company at home or during their seaside trips to Cape Cod, Mass. Jack is survived by his brother, James “Jimmy” Craven and his wife, Linda, and predeceased by his sister Maureen (Craven) Perkins. He leaves many loved ones and friends, and cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. A brief prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center, Foundation for TJO Animals, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
