John Patrick Fitzgibbon, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024. John was born in Holyoke, son of the late John and Mary (Gorman) Fitzgibbon. He graduated from the former Rosary High School in 1956 and attended Holyoke Junior College. Jack was a licensed real estate and insurance broker in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was a longtime employee of the Holyoke Water Department, retiring in 2002. He served in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Jack was a member of State, County and Municipal Employees Association, the Holyoke YMCA, a life member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902, and a longtime member of the Holyoke Country Club and the Wild Geese, where he had two holes in one and won the Friday night league 4 times. Jack also had an excellent singing voice. He is survived by his most loved companion and best friend Dorothy “Dottie” Dougherty, and many cousins in the Fitzgibbon, Monaghan, and Whelihan families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday September 20 at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holyoke Cross Ave., Holyoke, followed by burial in Saint Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke.
