John Joseph Flahive, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 at Day Brook Village in Holyoke. John was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, son of the late Peter and Mary (Hanafan) Flahive, attended Springfield Technical High School and STCC. After school he served in the United States Army from 1959-1962. John worked for many years as an Injection Molder at Spalding Sporting Goods, retiring in 2002. 

John is survived by his wife, Pauline R. (Leneau) Flahive; 5 sons: Edwin, William, James, David, and Steven Rowell; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Breslin and brother, Patrick Flahive, as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by 6 brothers.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1 at 10:00 am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed burial with military honors at 11:00 am in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
