John Francis Chevalier, age 63, of Holyoke, passed away at his home on Monday, June 13, 2022 after a long illness. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Gene and Mary Ellen (McMahon) Chevalier and was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School. John worked at Ampad for 27 years, and then at Berry Plastic until he became ill. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. John’s greatest passion was sailing. He could often be found working on his boat in Providence, RI, or sailing up and down the New England coast; he had wonderful stories of visiting Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, Cape Ann, and Cape Cod. John loved his family and was proud of his cooking skills. He had an incredible sense of humor that will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his longtime life-partner, Natasha Nasikovskaya of Holyoke; a son, James Chevalier and his wife Noel of Easthampton; a daughter, Maggie Chevalier of Holyoke; his siblings: Daniel Chevalier, Linda McCarthy, Thomas Chevalier, and James Chevalier and their spouses, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial for John on Saturday, June 18th at 11:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to the charity of one’s choice.
