John Haley Obituary

John C. “Jack” Haley, 86, son of the late John J. Haley and Mary (Curley) Haley, died April 25, 2022 with his family by his side. Jack graduated from St. Jerome’s High School, Class of 1953, attended Holyoke Community College, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1954, serving until his honorable discharge in 1957. He was appointed to the Holyoke Fire Department in 1960 and retired in 1991. Jack was a Life Member of Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902 and enjoyed participating in their Pool League. He also belonged to the Easthampton Rod and Gun Club where he was a skilled trap shooter. After his retirement, he spent many happy years at Gate Island in Otis, MA and at TriPar Estates in Sarasota, FL. Jack is survived by his wife Patricia (Devine) Haley, to whom he was married for 65 years; two sons: John of Easthampton and Michael (Ella) of Westfield; two daughters: Mary (Sherilyn) of Haydenville and Kate (David) Wesloski of Holyoke. Jack also leaves his sister, Margaret Mansfield of Florence, and his brother and best friend, Neil Haley and his wife Penny of Hadley. “Grampie”/“Bebe” was adored and admired by his grandchildren: Liam Haley Judd (Melissa), Christian Haley (Manda), Michael A. Haley (Alexandria), Ethan Haley, and his only granddaughter, the light of his life, Anna Wesloski. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Macayla and Mia Judd; and his “bonus” grandchildren, Jamie Farrell, Maggie Palpini, and Evan Judd Briant, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Renaissance Manor for their exceptional care and kindness to us at this difficult time; Kris Pollard, who supported us through difficult decisions; Dr. Armen Asik and the staff at the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care; and Dr. Andrew Levin. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 29th at 9:30 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Willpower Foundation, P.O.
