HOLYOKE
John A. McGill, age 100, of Holyoke, passed away at his home with family by his side on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. He was born in Northampton, a son of the late John C. and Eva Marie (Forest) McGill, was educated there, and had lived in Holyoke since 1945. John was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of Word War II attaining the rank of Sergeant. A Master Plumber, he was the owner of John A. McGill Plumbing & Heating for many years until retiring in 1981. John was a member of Local #104 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, and was currently a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen M. (Collins) McGill; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” McDonald of Northampton, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Millane) McGill in 1986, as well as six siblings: William and James McGill, Margaret Hutchins, Yvonne Hathaway, Alice Foster, and Dorothy Black. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 12 noon at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 10 to 11:15 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED.
