John F. McGinty

HOLYOKE:  John F. McGinty, age 70, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Loomis House in Holyoke. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Patrick J. and Ellen (Corduff) McGinty from County Mayo, Ireland, and was educated in the Holyoke schools. John graduated from Holyoke Trade School, and worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for thirty-four years, retiring in 2012. He was a communicant of Saint Jerome Church, and a former member of Holyoke Lodge of Elks # 902. John is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-one years, Melody T. (Muller) McGinty, one sister, Mary Ellen Leahy and her husband Thomas of Holyoke, a sister-in-law Judith McGinty of Longmeadow, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, James M. and Patrick J. McGinty. The funeral will be held Saturday, September 1st at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Patrick Chapel of Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham MA 01701.
