Joseph G.H. Dumont, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 19, 2025.  Joe, also known as Artie by some of his childhood friends and family, was born in Berlin, NH the son of the late Arthur and Juliette (Beaudette) Dumont.  Joe served in the Army as a Paratrooper and was proud to be a Veteran.  Joe worked at Hamilton Standard in East Windsor CT for many years as a repairman in the jet fuel control testing and support systems department.  He retired from Hamilton in 2000.  Joseph is pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor (Soja) Dumont who passed away in 2017.  Eleanor was the love of his life and favorite dance partner.  They were married on April 20, 1963.  Joe’s pride and joy was his family, especially his children.  He leaves behind two daughters, Debra Dumont, Michelle Robert and her husband Tom; two sons Alan Dumont and his wife Milissa, Ray Dumont and his wife Jennifer; seven grandchildren, Dan, Nick, Kyle, Alyssa, Brielle, Tyler and Nicole.  He was very proud of his grandchildren and their many accomplishments wearing sweatshirts from their colleges or sport team.  He is survived by his two loving sisters Lorraine Schuhlen and Irene DeGray who visited him often and brought him the best pastries and sweets.  Joe loved working in his workshop and carpentry projects.  He was always there to lend a hand or help fix things.  He enjoyed visiting his children, swimming, boating and vacations.  He loved to play the lottery and Keno and hanging out with his buddies at Pic’s Pub. Joe was lucky enough to have the best “coach” and caregiver, Terry Thibault who he adored.  Joe’s last two years were spent at the Arbors in Chicopee where he had a second family of caregivers who made him laugh and smile.  A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday March 26th at 11:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke then services at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.   Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., Holyoke.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
