Joseph Allen Underwood

Known to most by 'Joe' or 'Joey', passed away on October 2, 2021 after a long battle with chronic illness. Joe was born in Holyoke, MA on September 18, 1983. He moved to Conesville, NY for his teenage years where he graduated high school and moved on to college. Joe was interested in many things; always learning and challenging the popular opinion. He completed a licensing program to become a Pharmacy Technician before he passed and held a variety of jobs before that. He always tried to cheer you up or at least make you laugh for a break when life got heavy. And if you ever sat next to him at a gathering, you were sure to walk away with sore abs from laughing at his side comments. 

One of Joe's proudest accomplishments is his 11 year old son, Shaun. Joe has passed on his sense of humor and kind heart to "the boy" who will certainly keep us all on our toes. 

Joe was predeceased by many loved ones, but two he missed most are his Pappy & his first born, Kaiden. Joe will be remembered by his son Shaun and wife Veronica Underwood (Chicopee, MA), his mother and step-father, Bobbie Jo & Jeff Ostrander (Conesville, NY); his grandparents Wilma & Ed McCarthy (Westfield, MA); his father, Jorge Canales (Chicopee, MA); his sister Shaina Canales (Springfield, MA). Joe was also loved by his many nieces & nephews; aunts, uncles & cousins; in-laws, friends and those lucky enough to hold his attention.  

A celebration of Joe's life will take place at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA on October 8, 2021 4p-7p. Please feel free to dress comfortably and in Joe fashion, a Joe Con (like Comic Convention), if you will.
