Joyce D. Desorcy

HOLYOKE:  Joyce D. (Lynch) Desorcy, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2018 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, surrounded by her loving family of friends.  Joyce was born on January 3, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Dennis J. Lynch and Joanna (Wysocki) McQuillan.  She was a graduate of Holyoke High School, Holyoke Community College and Elms College.  Joyce was a friend of Bill W, and helped many with her experience, strength and hope.  Joyce held many positions throughout her life.  She was the Dental Assistant for Dr. Charles Enright, DDS, Catering Manager at Willits-Hallowell Conference Center at Mount Holyoke College, Project Coordinator and Career Counselor for the Women in Technology Program at Holyoke Community College and the Alumni Coordinator at Holyoke Community College.  She was the first Program Coordinator for the Holyoke Community College/Elms College non-traditional Bachelor’s Degree Completion.  She retired from this position in 2016.  She was most proud of the fact that she received her Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees when she was in her 40’s.  She served as an inspiration to the non-traditional students who have goals of continuing their education.  She was an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph.  Joyce will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit.  You were never a stranger to Joyce, just a friend that she had not yet met. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joann Sicard.  She is survived by her good friend Ed Daly, her niece Kelly Sicard, her nephew Michael Sicard, numerous cousins, her many friends, and her cat Gracie.  Joyce's family and friends would like to thank the staff at CareOne at Northampton and Cooley Dickinson Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Joyce.  Friends and Family are asked to meet at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton Street in Holyoke on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass officiated by Reverend Marissa Egerstrom. A visiting hour will be held at the Church prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
