Joyce M. LaFlamme Underwood Bernier, age 92, of Holyoke, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving daughters.

Joyce was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 22, 1932, where she grew up on a farm. She loved sharing memories of living there.

She worked for 40 years at National Blank Book in Holyoke, in many different roles. She later worked at Pat’s Supermarket in the Deli department for a number of years.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Marie LaFlamme; two brothers, Richard and Earl Jr; her son, Phillip (Rusty) Underwood; grandson, Jeffrey Mazurowski; and her stepson, Raymond Bernier.

Nothing was more important to Joyce than family. She could be found watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing baseball and soccer in Spring or Fall, or football or hockey in Fall and Winter.  She was a dedicated fan.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters; Cindy (Dennis) Gambon, Joyce (John) Mazurowski, and Cheryl (Steve) Aluxek, and also four stepsons (Berniers) and their wives and children.  Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren: Jeremy (Alison) Aluxek, Amanda (Paul) Aluxek, Brendan (Samantha) Aluxek, Stephan (Michelle) Gambon, Tim (Karen) Gambon, Jodi (Craig) Cox, and Brieann (Will) Underwood. Lastly, her great-grandchildren, Erin Gambon, Caden Gambon, Kelsey Breton, Lynsey Cox, Kaleb Aluxek, Josaphine and Jade Maldonado, Nathan Diaz, Brodie Aluxek, Dylan Underwood, Jayce Goldenberg and Brooklyn Goldenberg, will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be private at the family’s request.
