Kathleen M. (Monaghan) Minkler

Kathleen Ann (Monaghan) Minkler, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Holyoke Medical Center, where she was cared for by a loving staff in the ER and ICU. She was born in Holyoke on August 6, 1955 and lived there all of her life. She graduated from Holyoke High School.  Kathy worked at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for 28 years alongside the love of her life Robert “Pooch” Minkler, whom she married in 1993.  Working with the Veterans at the Soldier’s Home was the highlight of her career.  Kathy loved vacationing at the Cape.  Her little dog Mickey has thankfully been re-homed to a loving family.  Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, who passed away four years ago, and her parents, Ruth Ann Monaghan and Francis “Billy” Monaghan.  She was also predeceased by her loving niece, Maura Ann Monaghan, whom she loved like a daughter.  She leaves her sisters, Maureen Monaghan and Kelly McCoy and a brother, John Monaghan.  She adored her nephew Robert Berrena (Candace) and her grandnieces, Emilia and Allison as well as several other nephews and a niece.    A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street.  Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.  A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 9:00am to 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kathleen to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1805 Swarthmore Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701
